The word vampire has been around since greek mythology time, believing a young Italian boy, Ambrogio. He then began to fall in love with a young lady, Selena, whom he met in the Temple of Apollo, and asking her to marry him. Little did Apollo know he wanted her for himself and put a curse on Ambrogio, causing his skin to burn in the light. After he turned to Hades and Artemis for help, Artemis gave pity and gave him immortality, along with super-strength and fangs to kill beasts. Finally Selena escaped and Ambrogio drank her blood to make her immortal and they lived on. Others believe that Count Dracula, who was actually based off a off and on ruler of Romania. A very hateful man who would kill and dip his blood into their blood and his favorite way to kill enemies was a stake through the heart. Although vampires have been known throughout time in the middle ages around the time of the plague. Towns people believed that people with the plague or any type of strange looking wound at first were vampires and there were many uproars. In the past, times of the vampire was not glorified and loved, they didn’t glow or have sex appeal they were horrific and people were terrified of them. Modern vampires are praised and loved, they are made out to be protectors and glorify their killing as protection. Now vampires in television are “old but sexy, dangerous but loving, worldly and confident, yet volatile—and still somehow walk among is in jeans and a tee shirt,” says Ian Somerhalder of “The Vampire Diaries” in an interview. Like past vampires and television ones, they are not real, but there are such thing as real “vampires”. They are regular people that ingest small amounts of blood and study vampirism. Their lifestyle can be very dangerous though, you can get many diseases such as HIV or Hepatitis. Also you must check your iron levels a lot so you don’t have dangerous amounts of iron. Whether fake or semi-real, vampires are one of the oldest creatures that are used in stories of fear and fright and has changed quite a bit over these many years.
